WinSystems is seeking a candidate for the position of BIOS Development Engineer at our corporate headquarters in Arlington, TX. WinSystems manufactures and distributes embedded computer systems for use in industrial applications. Our products include embedded PC-compatible single-board computers, memory modules, input/output (I/O) modules, and enclosures based on the EBX, EPIC, and PC/104 industry standard architectures.
The successful candidate for BIOS Development Engineer must be a highly detail oriented and self-motivated individual and have 5-7 years previous experience programming in the PC x86 architecture, BIOS, and firmware development. Competency and fluency in MASM, C, and Visual C++ are required. A background in a computer design and manufacturing environment is very desirable. Any applicant should also possess a working knowledge of electronics hardware, be capable of reading and comprehending complex schematics and programmable logic code, as well as experience operating advanced diagnostic test equipment, including in-circuit emulators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for BIOS porting and code development for various WinSystems' embedded x86 products.
- Participate in the preparation, review, and analysis of BIOS requirements and specifications.
- Participate in the creation of design, functional, technical, and/or user documentation of complex BIOS features.
- Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis and bug fix for BIOS related issues.
- Requires hands-on knowledge, understanding, and experience in x86 PC architecture including APM, ACPI, PnP, PCI, PCIe and ISA.
- Maintain source code revision control.
- Must have the ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and procedures.
